Zethu Dlamini (nee Sibiya) is currently a graphics design student at Boxhill College.
Zethu was born 24 years ago in Manzini,Swaziland. She did her primary schooling at St.Marks Primary school which is in the capital city. At the age of 12 she won an academic scholarship to study at Waterford Kamhlaba (UWCSA), because of outstanding grades she skipped grade 7 and went straight into grade 8. In 2002 she was in the South African national top 5 of the Selimanthunzi presenter search,she represented Mpumalanga.She matriculated at Lowveld High School,Nelspruit in 2003. She started working for Channel Swazi the same year she matriculated, presenting a midday drive live music call in show who’s audience was largely teens,it was a 3 hour show presented in both English and siswati. She went on to present another live call-in music show at prime time called “Your Choice”,this show targeted a wider audience young and mature and the music varied. This called for Zethu to be diverse in her dealings with all sorts of people from all walks of life, the show was presented in both English and Siswati.During her time on the show she interviewed several leading African artists,musicians and other movers and shakers in the entertainment industry like internationally renowned artists—DJ Sbu (mzekezeke), DJ Fresh, DJ Tira and sox Afro pop outfits Bongo Maffin and Malaika, afro pop sensation Ntando, mandoza, and other local artists.
Zethu also presented a pre-recordered show called glitz ‘n’ glamour which targeted mostly young adults and the mature group as well.It was a lifestyle programme looking ito the lives of prominent figures or schools in Swaziland, on this show she sharpened her interviewing skills when interviewing businessmen and women, being a natural conversationalist and a fluent English speaker this was an easy task for Zethu.
She later became the main new reader at Channel Swazi for the English bulletin. In 2005,Zethu spread her wings to Swazi TV where she presented a pre-recorded music show called Coca-Cola Wassup whose audience was the youth, on this show she got to interview mostly her peers which was a very different experience as compared to interviewing celebrities.
Her cheerful, bubbly, outgoing, easy going yet hardworking and professional stance saw her nominated for Best Young Personality of the year in 2005.
She has a business marketing diploma from High Studies Institute in Kuwait.She also has a weekly column on a local Swazi newspaper,The Swazi Mirror, where she explores the pyschology of relationships between people.
